Day Thirteen

Your goals.

I love lists. Do you know this about me yet? As soon as I read the topic for today, I immediately knew what to share. There have been many goal lists in my past (namely, "get muscle tone" and "be happy"...these are reappearing themes for me) but two stand out in my mind and in my file folder :) The first is dated August 21, 2005, one week before I started college. Brittany and I took ourselves on a mini senior trip and wrote these goal lists somewhere along the way.

18 year old Ashley's Goals
1. Get married and have a happy, healthy, and successful relationship with my husband and kids.
2. Get a terminal degree. (a.k.a. a Ph,D.)
3. Travel.
4. Give back to those who are less fortunate.
5. Contribute fair amounts of money to my retirement savings.
6. Purchase real estate of my own.
7. Find a way to maintain my dreams of singing.
8. Work at keeping my body healthy.
9. Learn Spanish and possibly Sign Language.
10. Learn and cherish the value of friendship in my life.

Fast forward to 22 year old Ashley, November 2009, living in New York City, finding out that life after school is hard.
1. Travel the world.
2. Learn to speak Spanish.
3. Go to graduate school.
4. Be married in love, lust, and knowledge.
5. Have faith.
6. Make $1,000,000.
7. Master my mom's Christmas bread recipe.
8. Have kids.
9. Be my own boss at work.
10. Write something profound to be published. (This blog totally counts...right?)
11. Perform in a professional production.
12. Grow a garden with fresh vegetables and flowers.
13. Find a way to help the world.
14. Live abroad.
15. Go to all 50 states.
16. Read the Bible.
17. Learn to tap dance.
18. Capture the beauty of our world in photographs.

Deja vu moments:
Performing, Habla-ing, Financial Security, Have a happy marriage/family, Continue learning, Travel

I'm sure I'll write another list soon (I seem to make them in times of change) and when I do, I'll be interested to see if any new ideas spring to life. I'm guessing I'll gravitate toward similar themes.Oh, and go me for thinking about retirement at age 18. Totes norm.
