Day Twenty-Two

Favorite City

Oops, I'm one day late again. I'll do a sacrifice for the blog-gods later...

San Francisco....!...?

My family has been living in and around San Francisco for over 100 years. I myself love that it is big, but not too big, and crazy, but not too crazy. I love hearing stories about my dad and uncle growing up on Lumbard St. and Teresita Lane. I loved visiting my dad's high school and my dad, uncle, and grandpa's middle school (where they shared a teacher if you can believe it). I love knowing that my great-grandmother lost her birth certificate in the 1906 earthquake/fire (and then made herself a convenient 3 years younger when she replaced said papers). I love the hills. I love the view. I love driving into the city and recognizing Coit Tower and the TransAmerica building.

WIth all that being said, I actually don't know my favorite city very well at all. I don't know my way around nearly as well as I do here in New York City. I don't know the best restaurants or the worst neighborhoods (okay, the Tenderloin...but really, where are you?). I don't know the people and culture as well as I'd like to. But best of all, Dan got accepted into a summer program in my beloved San Francisco so we'll be home this summer! I can't wait to get to know good old San Francisco.
