there's no place like home

I am in the middle of one Big FAt CRAVING for a new space to decorate. Our apartment in New York City is cute and comfy...nothing too fabulous but it feels like home :) As our time in this lovely city starts to wrap up, I'm looking forward to our next CALIFORNIA (!!!) home. We'll probably be staying with my parents until our schedules become a bit more permanent but it doesn't mean a girl can't dream!

Indulge with me, won't you?

Though I doubt I'd ever use animal prints in decorating I ADORE the turquoise dresser with the gold mirror. The colors are bright and so welcoming when you walk through the front door of your home.

This "Calypso Blue" guest bath is perfect! I love the way the white trim pops against the jewel tone on the walls. Give me a moravian star light any day.

Carrera Marble countertops make this bathroom look so luxurious. I love their neutral background for the silver polished fixtures.

Do you read Young House Love? You should. They are a cute couple who post about their daily adventures of DIYing their home. I love the stripes on the walls of their pocket door bath. The boldness of their design is toned way down by the cream color they choose. Such a subtle and tasteful way to dress up a small space for almost no money. I think these stripes would look great in a closet, too!

This is YHL's living room. While I'd like to see a more decorative front door, I love the airy feeling you get just by looking at this room. I just want to curl up on the fluffy sofa and chat with girlfriends.

For a much bolder option, I could easily fall in love with this navy rug! Though the rest of the room still feels open and casual, the boldness of the graphic on the floor brings the room to a new level.

The contrast between dark and light colors make this kitchen dreamy! There's that teal color again. I think I'm having a love affair with that whole color family.

Again, Young House Love inspires me with their remodeled kitchen. One reason I love this is for the bargain factor associated with the Ikea cabinetry. Secondly, white kitchens are probably my favorite. But I love they incorporated blacks and grays into their traditional style without making the kitchen look too modern. Love it.

The Decorista posted this perfect home office. Ahhhhhhh. Besides loving the shape of the room, the print wall paper and Ikea chandeliers add a touch of charm to a basic space. The bright rug gives a vibrant energy to an otherwise white room--perfect for a home work space!

I'll close with this great quote (that I shamelessly stole from my friend's blog) as motivation to be fearless in decorating and in life!

  1. Ahh I love you. All of the above, perfectly said. I love the bright teal entry piece! And that guest bath. Did I mention that the whole aqua, teal, turquoise family took over my life? Painting stripes is more difficult than I thought :-/. Might be easier in a lighter color or gloss/eggshell finishes but same color. Now following: YHL, already... Well, in love. When will y'all move?!?! Can you believe it's been almost 2 years? Where did that time go? Random list of thoughts <3
